Letts Launches International Design and Innovation Studio

- PRESS ANNOUNCEMENT -

International innovator and artist, Philip Letts, is opening a revolutionary design and innovation studio in the UK. The studio, called VisualRevolution! is an interesting step in the fast rising artists career and one that marks him out further as impresario of the art world worth watching.

VisualRevolution! will not only hot house Letts' aggressive moves in the art world, where he uses bleeding edge computer and photographic techniques with age old artistic methods to break barriers in the photo-art world and graffiti-art universe, but will also usher in a new wave of art and artistic processes affecting commerce and industry.

"From the days of Leornardo da Vinci, in the Renaissance period, artists with grand visions and designs have been attempting to use creative processes to take us to new and unimaginable heights and revolutionary breakthroughs. Leornardo designed a flying machine nearly 800 years ago!" Letts commented.

VisualRevolution! uses creative and artistic processes developed by Letts over the last decade, combined with technology, innovation and design know-how to break artistic moulds and redefine industrial innovation using a method they call CREATE-IVITY (TM). Already a growing list of companies and innovations are queuing up for and coming out of VisualRevolution!

Philip Letts, international artist, attacks the publishing industry in the name of his art

Philip Letts has caused a stir in the cozy world of book publishing by giving away his sought after debut novel for free over the Internet in the name of promoting his art. After rejecting various offers from renowned book publishers Letts decided that he would rather give his debut novel away to more widely promote his increasingly coveted art and gain wider recognition.

"Death in Girotondo" (at www.deathingirotondo.blogspot.com) was inspired by series that I was shooting in Italy at the time - the book came about thanks to my art. And I would like as many people as possible to read my books, after all so few can afford my art. Giving it away seemed the only thing to do. And lets face it, if a growing band of world renowned musicians are willing to give their music for nothing to promote their concerts - why shouldn't an artist give away his books." Recently, Radiohead and Prince caused a stir by giving their music away for free.

But Letts has a twist to his wonderful novel set in Tuscany about a woman finding her freedom from years of marital abuse and chauvinist chains - he has hidden various of his artworks within the books virtual pages. See if you can find them? And if you love the art he has featured in the book - you can of course buy prints. Some even online!

To read the book go to www.deathingirotondo.blogspot.com and if you like it tell your friends!

Philip Letts launches 'Facebook' of the Art World

Philip Letts launches the 'Facebook' for the art world today!

Philip Letts, irreverent international artist, today launched the Facebook for the Art World - called b-uncut. MySpace and Facebook have been a huge global phenomenon over the last couple of years and now it is time for the art world to have its own. Artists and the art world can communicate freely and unite across borders and boundaries in this digital network.

Philip Letts has worked with a team of developers for the last year to be able to bring a social network to the Internet worthy of the art world. Artists of all kinds as well as art collectors, critics, writers and even dealers can set up their own profiles at www.b-uncut.com and upload their personal details, art, videos and playlists. Then they can join online forums, discussion groups and blogs moderated by leading members of the art world.

"Given my profile and experience on the Internet, it was a natural for me as an artist to launch b-uncut. And so many members of the art world have been pressing me to do this. The art world needs to be dragged into the digital age - and what better way to do it. First I developed b-uncut for my artist friends as a kind of virtual co-operative - now it goes live to the world!"

b-uncut is a Social Network for artists and the art world created and mediated by artists. It has been designed, tested and guinea-pigged from the ground up by the art world. It is tailor made. And www.b-uncut.com goes live today!

b-uncut - set yourself free!

Artists freed (Radiohead included)

There is a trend forming which will gather pace and soon affect all artists - freedom! Whether you are a painter, photographer, film maker, actor, writer, musician or video artist, things are a changing. For the Internet is gradually dislodging the iron grip that the middle men have yielded for so long.

Radiohead is the latest in a groundswell of artists breaking ranks with convention, brazenly discarding music labels, publishers, media conglomerates and even dealers, galleries and retail outlets. Going it alone, setting up their own web sites, distribution channels and events - you can even flog your own t-shirts online!

After all, if you have know how, marketing on the Internet is getting ever more cost effective and increasingly accurate and effective. The artist of tomorrow will need to know how to launch themselves and manage their careers, channels and PR like never before. This could mean they make more money, but they will have to work harder and be more business savvy - yep that horrific term rears its ugly head.

Artists will also need to bandy together to create greater clout - the sum of many... And to put my money (web skills) where my mouth is I have launched a social network for artists of all kinds to get together and share their works, ideas and soul. It's called b-uncut and you can find it, in beta, at www.buncut.ning.com.

Let's get together, help each other and set ourselves free!
